Shangri-La Resort 11:43 PM

The Shangri-La resort in Cebu is simply the best resort in the Philippines and among the top tier of resorts found anywhere in the world. It starts off being a five-star hotel with provides all of the luxurious services and pampering one expects from this designation. Guests are offered a number of wonderful restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, bars, a health club, beauty solon, spa, clinic, business center, and a concierge service to guide you events and facilities outside the resort property. In terms of outdoor activities, you can choose from tennis, pitch & put golf, boating, volleyball, or a cabana massage.

What makes the Shangri-La resort truly unique, however, are the grounds. The beach, swimming pools and other recreational facilities are seamlessly integrated with some of the most beautiful landscaping I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing. This beautiful integration of facilities and nature is first appreciated as you enter the resort’s lobby. The lobby is huge and fully embraces the gorgeous natural vistas without windows or doors. You know you are in a building, but it feels like you are in a delightful garden. The Shangri-La is a feast for one’s senses – all of them.

The Shangri-La resort is expensive. You can expect to pay about double the rate that can found at other fine resorts in the area, but this resort is clearly the best the Philippines has to offer.

Barefoot White Beach is 2.5 hours drive from Cebu city by v-hire or a taxi. We decided to stay at the Barefoot Resort at White Beach. We had a positive impression of the Barefoot Resort before we arrived through their website and quick responses to our emails. When we arrived, our positive impressions were reinforced. We were warmly greeted, shown every courtesy, and generally treated like we were VIPs. Their property was quite new, clean, and had the basic amenities that we were expecting – satellite TV, hot and cold showers, aircon and a beautiful white sandy beach. If you are planning a trip to Moalboal, the Barefoot Resort is my recommendation. Check out their website at www.barefoot.ph

While we were staying at the Barefoot Resort, we decided to take a walk next door to the Club Serena Resort. Like the Barefoot, Club Serena is a fairly new resort. It is much larger and has a swimming pool to go along with the white sandy beach. I did not check their room rates, but I would expect Club Serena is a bit more expensive than the Barefoot Resort.

Probably the biggest and most luxurious beach resort in the area is the Kasai Beach Resort. This resort seems to be focusing on scuba divers who prefer White Beach over Panagsama and are willing to pay for it. Most everything we noticed about the Kasai Beach Resort focused on divers and diving. We noticed many tourists taking scuba diving lessons in the swimming pool and near the beach. The Kansai Beach Resort has a great restaurant and offers the most beautiful views and accommodations in the area. We got a very good service at Kasai with their very friendly staff.
